I spent several weeks importing a bunch of podcasts most of which were over an hour long. After importing each one I would get the popup saying that the lesson was successfully imported. I haven’t gone through any of the lessons yet because I’m still working on another course, but I assumed that the lessons were importing correctly since I was getting the popup.
The other day I happened to read on the forum that there is a 6,000 word lesson limit. So I went to the podcast course and checked. Every single lesson I imported stops at 6,000 words. It seems to have only transcribed around 30 to 35 mins of each podcast and then just stopped. So none of the 50 lessons I imported were actually successfully imported.
Now if I want to fix this course I’m gonna have to delete all 50 lessons. Spend a bunch of time splitting the audio files so I make sure none are over 30 mins long and then re-import everything again.
All that could have been avoided if there was some sort of warning that the lessons hadn’t been imported all the way, and that LingQ can’t transcribe more than 6,000 words of an audio file.
The best solution would be if the whole audio gets transcribed and LingQ just divides the text into multiple lessons. But, if that doesn’t work there should at least be some sort of warning.
Whenever you import audio it says there is a 200mb limit. There should also be a warning that if the audio is longer than around (30 mins/6,000 words) it won’t transcribe the whole thing. Or instead of the popup that says “successfully imported”, which obviously isn’t always true, you could have a popup that tells you your audio is over 6,000 words and wasn’t fully transcribed. That way you would know right away that you need to split the audio file and try importing again.
