It appears to be an idiom, but what does this mean? I found it in a private lesson. The context is that the first person female narrator finally experienced the end of a very unpleasant string of events, the happy ending being marked by encountering an also female friend.
Το σωστό (ποσοτικό επίρρημα) είναι “πολύ”! και όχι “πολλή”!!! Επομένως η έκφραση (φράση) υποθέτω πως είναι “πολύ τους πέφτει” ή “και πολύ τους πέφτει”, που σημαίνει ότι ένας άνθρωπος είναι πολύ καλύτερος από κάποιους άλλους, με τους οποίους έτυχε να έρθει σε επαφή σε φιλικό, εργασιακό ή άλλο περιβάλλον.
