Writing is too expensive for good writers

I can suggest the way that uses my academic writing corrector – her price is based on time (in hours) she needs for correcting an article. I’m not sure if it is what Vera wants and if it is possible to adopt in LingQ, because I do ask my corrector to check carefully every sentence and to correct every single mistake. I just know that I pay significantly less when I need to submit a large article or proposal using number of hours as a method for a corrector work measurement, compared to number of words or number of pages methods that use other correctors.

Shon, I just wonder, what does hierogliph from your avatar mean? It is a so cute cat

It means “Love”.

This is a nice (free) online writing corrector for English which can be used to supplement but not replace, LingQ’s tutoring services.

Same service, for French

Thanks to Lizstan on another thread for this

Interesting sites Lizstan and Edward! Thanks!

Since you have drawn our attention to this thread again, I think it’s worth repeating the point that, if you book up for a one-on-one session with a tutor, you can use their time for whatever you like. You can e-mail your CV (resume) to your tutor and ask them to proof-read it in that time. Or your student dissertation. Or your shopping list. You can say: I’ve booked up 1 (or 2 or 3 or whatever) 15 minute slot with you, please use that time to do this task. For an advanced student who doesn’t make many mistakes in writing that is a much cheaper way than submitting a large piece as a writing submission.

You can use the entire site for $10 a month, but only a few lines of corrected text already cost much more than that. It’s absurd, honestly. Maybe some of you guys are rich, maybe LingQ is a site for rich people, but that price is too much for a normal person. A fair price would be 300 points per 500 words. I write a 500-word text twice a week. And that would coust me about $30 a month on corrections. That’s a lot of money for me, but I would pay. I would pay up to $50 for that. But my the current system I would spend $150 for the same amount. Can’t do.

The original post is from 2008, nearly 9 years ago. The system has changed: If you want to have writings corrected, you can set the price (number of points) yourself. If you set it very high, you will have faster and more corrections. If you set the price too low, then you may not get any corrections at all…
