Words read and hours listened

@LILinguist Yes, the 500 miles from St-Jean-Pied-De-Port to Santiago. I definitely recommend it!

I’ve never kept track over the years of how much time I put into reading in my target language. My main focus is always on trying to get as much exposure to the language as possible however I can. While I’ve always been a very avid reader in my own native language, I find that reading in a foreign language is my least favorite thing to do (but I still force myself to do so when necessary). I’ve actually improved my fluency more by practicing speaking, listening (watching movies, talk shows, news etc.) and singing in your target language can even work wonders (doesn’t matter if you’re a good singer or not). I actually know quite a few songs by heart and I find it’s a lot easier to remember vocabulary that way too;) Being a good imitator can also be a plus. When I hear a native speaker say something while watching a film, I would sometimes try to repeat what they say. I keep repeating several times (concentrating on the intonation of the speaker) until I’m satisfied that what I’m saying sounds pretty close to what I’ve heard. When it comes to getting fluent in a foreign language, everyone will have their own method. You just need to find the method that works for you and stick to it;)

Congrats, Pilgrim!

How long have you been studying spanish?

I’ve been technically studying Spanish for about 2 years but only about 1.5 seriously but on and off.
