Hello there,
I am curious to hear from others who are learning Farsi. I live with a native speaker, thus I am fortunate to have the opportunity to speak Farsi daily and to receive feedback. I have been using LingQ for 1 year, and my Known word count is 5500 at this point. (I don’t count conjugations, proper nouns or English words as Known). (I read the Colloquial Beginner Grammar book, and completed the Chai and Conversation series before starting with LingQ). My aim is to be conversationally fluent, so I am not learning to write in Farsi. I have a daily study routine of listening to new content, using sentence mode, and then flashcards (all in LingQ), for about 1 hour, and then additional listening to older content during “downtime” (exercise, cooking), and then reviewing vocabulary. I work full-time, thus this is all I feel I can manage. I feel like I’m making very slow progress, and at times I feel discouraged. I love the language, and I want to one day be fluent, but I need some encouragement and support at this point and would love to hear from other Farsi learners. What is working for you? What keeps you going? Is there anything you would suggest? Any words of encouragement. Thank you!
