Whole sentence not selectable as a LingQ

Dear team of LingQ!

Please take a look at the image I attached.

I wanted to create a LingQ selecting the sentence “desde escarabajos a gusanos”.
But this didn’t work.
LingQ told me to select sentence containing nine words as a maximum.
You can see that message on the right upper corner.

What can I do?

Copy the text, edit it and add it to my private lessons is a possible solution.
But on the long run it is too compilcated.
I don’t wanna do that.

I also switched to sentence mode to resolve it
, but this also didn’t help.

Can you please help me?

regards
Andreas

The problem in this specific case is with a imported text since each line is considered a new paragraph and you can’t select words/phrase across paragraphs. Lesson needs to be edited and paragraphs removed. Please post lesson URL and I can look into it for you.

Hello Andi1, how are you?

I am not a member of LingQ squad, but I’ve experienced this a few times. Is this an imported lesson or something of ‘Oriented Courses’?

I am asking this, because a realized that when I imported some videos from YouTube the sentences are separated like them are in the video, without connections, like lines separated. In this case (like sentences with period), it is impossible to select.

I don’t remember if the imported texts have the same problem. If yes, maybe will be necessary to edit the lesson and input every text of the same paragraph in the same blank.

I hope that you can solve your problem.

Regards,
Filipe

Here are the lessons that have the problem:

Presidente de Venezuela anuncia el despliegue de 4,5 millones de milicianos

(I already made a private lesson out of it, but it may help others if it’s corrected)

@Andi1 Thanks, both lessons should be fixed now.

Hello,

I found another lesson where lines are seperated where they should not be seperated:
¿Por qué leer Cien Años de Soledad?

@Andi1 Thanks, I fixed that one too.

Thank you very much!

When this happens/a desired lingq spans 2 lines,
I do the following:

  • click “modify the line” where the - desired lingq starts,
  • add the missing words (that are in the next line)
  • create the multi-word lingq
  • remove the temporarily added words
  • leave sentence-mode

The lingq should now appear/be highlighted across the 2 Iines.

Thank you!
I never did this before.
I will try that out.

This “modify the line”-thing sounds very useful. But I’ve never come across it before. Where do I find it?

Click on the “…” (3 dots) in the upper right corner, as well in page mode as in sentence mode
