Hello, everyone. Who practices shadowing, please share your experience
Used to do it. It was helpful. Highly recommended 10/10. Doing it a lot less than before
I tried it. But it was too stressful for me.
I don’t understand, what is shadowing?
Shadowing means repeating after the speaker with a delay of one second
Here is guide:

Personally, I think trying to shadow with a 1 second delay makes absolutely no sense. The audio is possibly on an entirely different word altogether and I can’t see how that is helpful.
My suggestion would be to either speak at the very same time…doing all the things the link suggest, trying to mimic the tone and accent. Almost like singing along. If you are speaking “off the beat”, it’s just a jumbled mess and I don’t see how you can actually be mimicing anything properly as you’re hearing two separate voices that aren’t in time with one another.
I would also do just plain old repeating AFTER the speaker stops, trying to mimic what was said but with only your voice.
I only find it helpful with short audios. Shadowing for minutes makes no sense -to me-. But I remember when I was learning English, I used to repeat what my Irish friend said in every audio, to get used to his accent. So, it depends, I guess.
Never been able to make shadowing work for me but this is simpler and more reachable (dadada & mumbling):
That is corusing, shadowing when you speak at the same time.
I’ve tried shadowing too, and I can see why people find it useful. It is especially good for getting used to the rhythm, pronunciation, and natural speed of a language.
I think the key is starting with short pieces of audio rather than trying to shadow a long conversation from the beginning. Even 5–10 minutes of focused practice can be quite effective.
