What word frequency corresponds to what coin value?

I’m studying Japanese. I see my LingQs each have a coin value 0 through 4, with 4 being the highest importance. I’ve read on the forums that more coins means a word is more frequently used in the language, hence is more important to learn.

Does anyone know the correspondence between coin value and frequency for Japanese? That is, how many words are 4 coins? Is it the most frequently-used 5000 words in the language? 1000? Where are the cutoffs? Or does it work differently than that?

Correct, the most frequent words in a language are worth more coins. I can’t tell you the exact number of words with higher coin values, as I don’t have that information at the moment. Sorry!
