I am not an expert by any stretch of an imagination. I have tried to start a Jin Yong’s novel (a classic, supposedly), but it was too difficult for me. Then I chose the first more understandable thing.
A good thing to do would be to work backwards. Check out at wuxiaworld which series is translated, then search for that title in Chinese and click around a little bit (I am not sure of the legality of the sites you will no doubt find). Once you’re in one of the chapters, use LingQ extension. Also, some of those series are available as audiobooks, but you have to listen to them mostly through the websites - downloading is possible, but time consuming. Don’t hold me responsible if you download some Chinese viruses:)
I am reading a thing called “圣墟”. It’s really dumb, but I can follow what’s happening. I couldn’t be able to find matching audio unfortunately
