Several posts I placed under “Web Beta now open” have not been saved. So I am started another thread to see if the posts will save here. I will repost all the comments that were not saved last night and this morning.

While reading a lesson (book) in sentence mode if the text is too large to fit on the screen, there is no vertical scroll bar to scroll down to continue reading. You must either go back to “page view” or reduce text size or enlarge the screen somehow to be able to see all the text. I think a vertical scroll bar needs to be added.

The variations of yellow coloring between 1, 2, 3 words is so slight it is difficult to tell them apart. And #4 underline is so thin it is almost invisible. I wonder if there is a better way to show this – what about user selected colors? Why not keep the same colors as ver 4 as they all were fine there?

I was in sentence mode about three-quarters through a lesson, then switched to page view and it jumped to the beginning of the lesson. The progress bar at top also jumped to the beginning – no longer showing my progress about ¾ through. Then I switched back to sentence mode and I was still at the beginning. So it is not keeping track of the location in the lesson when switching back and forth between sentence and page view.

In moving from one lesson to the next – the second lesson was still legacy, so I clicked “Edit Lesson” and converted to 5 – But when I go back into the lesson it still says it’s legacy and will not translate in sentence mode. I tried this several times. Each time I edit the lesson I no longer get the convert request – so it thinks it’s converted, but every time I go back to the lesson in sentence mode it still says legacy and won’t allow translation. (This occurred last night at about the same time I saw all these posts disappear, so it may have something to do with some system maintenance that was going on at the time.)

So far my posts in this new thread are remaining. Maybe there is a limit of some kind to the number of comments that can be made on each thread??

Thanks for your time in going through this debugging process. I also faced the same issues that you have written about. Hopefully, the LingQ team is keeping an eye out for this. Yes, the forum is itself buggy, however, we have developed enough tolerance for it as reading and listening are the main activities.

There may be a limit, but it’s huge. Definitely been threads much longer than the Web Beta now open thread. It may be that they cut off posting on that. I assume they will set up a “report issues” thread for us to post on. [edit: The Web Beta now Open thread is the one that they asked to add issues to…so very strange if you aren’t able to make new posts to it]
I don’t know to what degree they may monitor separate posts like this. I know for the app bugs they specifically requested that people don’t make more threads and post all issues on the “bugs and issues” thread they created. That way they don’t have to monitor a hundred threads by different users.

A few days ago, Zoran assured me that they were monitoring all threads and that the programmers would try to address all the issues.
When clicking on a dictionary for a new word, it opens a new popup web page. I copy the translated word back to the page where I am reading. I repeat for the next unknown word which doesn’t have a translation. After a few words like this I end up with a multitude of open windows in the background that I have to go shut down one by one. Is there a way you could cause the dictionary lookup to reopen in the same window so there would only be a single instance of that popup on repeat dictionary lookups?
Some of my recent lessons have not been indicated as having been read in beta 5. I have had to manually indicate that they were read.
When looking at statistics I prefer to always look at “all time” rather than “last week” default. Perhaps the program could save the last way you looked at it, then it just saves an extra step. Not a big deal, but would be nice.
A comment just posted but not displayed in the earlier thread: Is it possible to have the system keep the source formatting of an ebook? For example, are you able to keep the paragraph breaks, spaces between chapters etc.? Whenever I import Ebooks I get a massive wall of text.
I think this would be helpful in all languages.
I still get emails indicating that people are posting messages on the “Web Beta now open” thread, but when I go to that thread the latest displayed message is the one I posted 2 days ago. Is it just me or do others have this same issue? I am sure it is not a cache issue as I have refreshed and even gone to another browser and messages after the one I posted 2 days ago do not display.
The last post I see is this one: “Viewing Continuing Studying list there is an option for “Providers” on the right. How about adding the current “User Name”. This would allow filtering for only courses/lessons we load ourselves.”
I just discovered something strange. If I navigate to that forum by Community → All Forums → Web Beta now open! Then I am missing past couple of days of comments. But by happenstance I just navigated to it by going to Notifications by my picture in upper right and then clicking on the latest notification - then everything appears correctly!! Now I see all the comments for the past few days. I never go there like this before but now I know how to see all the latest comments on that thread. Very strange behavior!!
Web 5.0 Beta not working.
Using Google Chrome on a PC
Version 94.0.4606.71 (Official Build) (64-bit)
When I go to https://beta.lingq.com/, it looks as if I’m coming for the first time. So I click “log in” and because I’ve previously logged in, it redirects me to Login - LingQ, but this page appears to be completely blank except for the yellow help bubble in the bottom left. I can scroll down the seemingly blank page, and if I hover around there appears to be clickable items.
This is my work computer, so it’s possible that the issue is caused by some security settings they’re using. The non-beta version of Lingq works just fine on this computer, however.
