Hi, I’m looking for the meaning of “tip jar” I saw it in a podcast called “why sholud internet apps be free”

Sometimes, in places like cafes, you’ll find a jar on the counter next to the cash register. That’s the tip jar. They’re hoping that after you pay for your coffee or whatever, that you’ll put a little money in a jar.

Thanks Ipanema, and bytor, the tip jar is used on some “free” websites as their way to generate revenue without charging for membership, just like the tip jar in the restaurant.
