I am a beginner of Japanese, been studying for a couple months now.
I was in New York yesterday and sitting in cafe with my friends. I heard the people next to us talking japanese. I am a very white, blond looking american so you certainly wouldn’t have expected me to know an asian language. I asked them in Japanese if there food was good… Smiles all around! They were on holiday from tokyo and we had a very nice, short conversation about getting to eat american food and the differences between Tokyo and New York City. They also complimented me on my Japanese! What a nice way to break ice and connect with people! I had a smile the rest of the day!
Tell me some of your great moments, or the first time you got to use a newly learned language in real life!
