“In the third video the guy try to speak with an Algerian/Moroccan accent, with some Arabic words here and there.”
Isn’t that the joke about Marseille?

I spoke (or tried to) with a guy on skype in Ch’ti. Was hilarious!

Yep, i have moroccan friends and i must say, they pronounce the “r’s” more like in spanish than in french. They’re cool people though here. Don’t know about the Arabs in Marseille :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, Marseille is often considered as an Arab city, so maybe… ^^ But you’re as likely to hear an Arab speak like that in Paris as in Marseille.

This is typical from Marseille (and the South-East in general ^^) : Patrick Bosso Langue Marseillaise English Subtitles - YouTube

You really know Ch’ti ? oO
My grandmother is from Douai, and even though she has been living in Alès for more than 40 years she still knows Patois/Ch’ti. They have some really weird words/expressions! She was quite disappointed when she traveled to the North a few years ago and noticed that younger people weren’t able to speak like her.

@Jorgis
No, I can’t speak Ch’ti. I had the guy speak to me in Ch’ti and I tried to respond with his accent. It was pretty rediculous and lasted for 3 minutes lol. I also had another friend speak to me in Bernais, which obviously is a very different accent.

My favorite accent is the Toulousain. I read a poll somewhere that said the majority of the French population agrees with me, which surprised me because I’ve never seen the entirety of France agree on anything!

Suburban French frustrates me because it’s quite challenging to grasp!
