There are actually some bugs in Firefox 13 and IE 9 that cause text-to-speech to not work. We should have these fixed soon, but in the meantime you can try downgrading to Firefox 12 or using Google Chrome. You can find more info here: No Text To Speech Audio - Language Forum @ LingQ
