Some questions about the vocabulary page and SRS system

I use the vocabulary page to review words every day, but I have some questions about its design.

  1. What is the difference between the two tabs, “All” and “Due for Review (SRS)”?

The number of words they include looks almost the same. I assume the “Due for Review (SRS)” tab contains words whose review date has arrived within the past half month. So, I have to filter the review date as today’s date every day. Then, what is the reason the “Due for Review (SRS)” tab exists?
I think the “Due for Review (SRS)” tab should first show the words to review today.

  1. Why can’t I “review” all the words?

The number of words I can review using the Review feature is limited to 10. I assume this because each word appears twice in the 20 questions. The words are randomly selected, so I can’t review all of them. “The number of words I will review per day” is the number I want to review. That’s one of the reasons I don’t use this feature. I review the list directly on my own.

  1. Keyboard shortcut isn’t enough.

The most important point is changing the status. On the reader mode, we can change the status of a word using the keyboard. However, on the vocabulary pages, we can’t.
As shown in the description below the page, there are some shortcuts, but moving the cursor with Alt + arrow doesn’t make sense. To do the same with a single mouse click, I also need to press Alt + Enter (to play TTS). Furthermore, I have to scroll the page manually since it won’t do so automatically.
Because of this, I do all operations by mouse, which tires me.

  1. The filter condition is recalculated when paging.

If I change some status, some words no longer fit the filter condition. Then, when paging to the next page, some words that should be on the next page will disappear. Those are moved to the previous page. This is inconvenient. My solution is to maximize the amount shown so that I don’t have to page.

Hello,

  1. Every day words and phrases (LingQs you created) are added to your Due for Review list. You can find this list in the Vocabulary section. LingQs are selected for review based on our SRS (Spaced Repetition System) schedule.

Status 1 - 1 day
Status 2 - 3 days
Status 3 - 1 week
Status 4 - 2 weeks, then one month, then three months.

Daily lists are generated from the list of terms due for review. You can set the number of terms that are sent each day up to 200. Of course, if you go to the Vocabulary section, you can review all your terms until there are none left for review.

  1. Go to the Vocabulary page, list and select LingQs you want to review, and click on the review button. You can review up to 50 LingQs in one go.

3 & 4) Thanks for your suggestions here, we appreciate the feedback and we will see what we can do to improve things.

Thank you for your response.

  1. I have read and understood that explanation from a description somewhere. However, the number of words currently present in the “Due for Review (SRS)” tab is almost the same as in the “All” tab.
Even if I review them, they will remain in the list unless they become “known.” This contradicts the idea of controlling the review intervals, as the same words keep appearing every day.

For example, when filtering by status, the number of words included is as follows:

Status1: All - 6.8k, SRS - 6.7k
Status2: All - 2.4k, SRS - 2.3k
Status3: All - 2.4k, SRS - 2.3k
Status4: All - 1.3k, SRS - 1.2k
Known: All - 1.1k, SRS - 0

I have no idea what purpose this behavior serves.

  1. I see now that the “Cards per session” setting needs to be set to twice the number of words I want to review, and the maximum is 100. I hadn’t realized this before.
If the pagination issue is resolved, I understand that everything can be covered by repeating multiple times.

If I set it to review 200 words per day, it would be natural to actually be able to review 200 words per day.

  1. By the way, I just remembered another issue with flashcards: If a word’s spelling appears in the “Meaning” field, an automatic masking function would be helpful for effective learning.
I sometimes include the word itself as part of the explanation for reference when reading.

Addition:
I just tried it again, and it made me wonder—after finishing a round of questions, if I choose to continue, will I be able to review everything without duplication?
If that’s the case, then this is not an issue with the functionality itself but rather a lack of sufficient explanation of how it works.

  1. That’s normal, however, words are sent to you via Daily LingQs email/notifications based on their review due status, as I explained in my post above.

  2. Correct, each word is shown twice during the review. If you guess it correct both times, it’s status will increase automatically +1, or drop -1 if you guess it wrong both times.

I don’t understand.
Statistically speaking, words in Status 2 should appear about 1/3 as often, those in Status 3 about 1/7, and those in Status 4 even less frequently.

For example, words in Status 2 are reviewed every three days, right?
Let’s say I create LingQs for the words ABC, DEF, and GHI on consecutive days.
Then, on the fourth day, I should review ABC, on the fifth day DEF, and on the sixth day GHI.
However, in practice, all words are simply thrown into the “Due for Review (SRS)” section.

The only way to remove them from there is to immediately mark them as known. But if I do that, I won’t be able to review them multiple times at spaced intervals.

Is this feature meant just for some kind of debugging or verification, rather than something that users are expected to interact with during normal use?

As I mentioned in my first post, in practice, I can just filter by the current date, which meets my needs.
However, it seems unreasonable that the feature I actually use requires more steps to access than a feature no one needs to use.

Also, I don’t quite understand how the email system works.
The only emails I’ve ever received are reminder emails when I fail to reach my daily goal by 8 PM.
If I reach my goal earlier, no email is sent. Do I need to wait for that email?

Correct, if you don’t reach your Daily Goal, you will be receiving a Daily Workout email with a list of LingQs pulled from the SRS list based on their status.
