Selecting phrases on Ipad

I have always used lingq on my Samsung tablet and it allows me to select entire paragraphs or longer phrases which is often very useful for getting better translation. My tablet has gotten slow so I’ve moved to my partner’s iPad Pro and the selection function is HORRENDOUS. I do remember this was an issue before and why I avoided switching earlier.

I can barely select more than 9 or 10 words it makes the app unusable to me. Are there any solutions to this?

Also, with such a large tablet why isn’t lingq designed better. E.g YouTube videos, why does it insist on going to the read/text scroll page for watching when this could easily fit alongside the standard text.

9 words limit is actually there for years, that is the maximum number of words you can select and save as a phrase. We haven’t made any change there.

Regarding the design, you can still use regular page/sentence view with YouTube lessons. What happens when you try?

The limit is incredibly annoying honestly and it’s not an issue I have on android, I think the Android OS on both Pixels and Samsungs somehow allows selection of longer phrases which I find invaluable for getting translations for better context. I wish this cap could be removed, partially selecting sentences and phrases does not give good translations sometimes.

Youtube lessons goes to the screen where the video is on the left and the text autoscrolls.

@swakefield Sounds like you are in the listening mode. Are you unable to switch back into a sentence/page mode?
