[request] AI generation: pls drop paragraphs and make real sentences

Thank you. I habitually download audio, if that is allowed, and submit it to a local whisper version I have. Still, as I explained to Mycroft, 700 lines is still 700 paragraphs, showcasing a lack of understanding.

Fortunately, Lingq does allow a piece by piece deletion, it is just a uselessly timeconsuming process that could easily be replaced by one mass deletion command. As you read from zoran:
“Not in plans at the moment. That will be something we will look into in the future.”.

In other words, not anytime soon. Hence my request to turn this into a bug.

As a heavy user of LingQ, I also agree with all of your complaints lol. LingQ editor is too slow and works irrationally, but there’s no good enough alternative, so I still use it.

Quite honestly LingQ should stop advertising about importing material being such a great feature since it does not work very well. I for one am not willing to take all of this time to learn AI and go through all these steps that supposedly LinQ can do. When I subscribed to LingQ I thought I was going to be able to import my favorite comprehensible input material from YouTube, but none of it creates a usable transcript or text, so I no longer even try and I have to study a lot outside of LingQ. I do not understand why LinQ cannot incorporate AI to do this in the program. Otherwise LingQ works great with the material that comes within it.

Totally agree. Lingq needs a complete overhaul. Even the reader is not great. Why on earth can it not retain original formatting, support pictures, or allow for unlimited lesson length in 2025 I will never know.

There are alternatives. there is simmilar product. it has less functionality then LingQ, but it exists

I think this is only if you create a srt file and import that into LingQ. If you use whisper to create a text file, you could get rid of the paragraphs before the import. At least I remember that I did so in the past.

Thanks for the tip. I am bit fed up with working around Lingq’s stupidity and unwillingness. This is a clear error, but it is not in the planning to repair it. Go figure.

Agreed, I just discovered the LingQ editor and for a moment I thought I could fix the transcripts, but every line is a paragraph.

I have noticed that if you replace a carriage return plus linefeed by only a linefeed, these lines have no paragraph. But only if you can access a transcript, which I can only do when I have the audio.
