For awhile there was a program called “Reading With Texts” it was basically a free, offline, open source program which worked just like Lingq. It did require a good bit of initial setup but then worked fine. I had tried it on an older computer with Ancient Greek. But I’m not sure what happened to it.
Downsides:
- A lot of work to get audio to the point where I stopped trying to get that to function.
- It was more work initially to “import” whereas Lingq has a lot of content already available (Not ancient Greek obviously).
- It did not look as good. Made you feel like you were using something from the early 2000s.
- What in the world happened to this program? Is it still around? Was there some lawsuit that killed it or something?
- It only worked for the PC. There was no app which made it portable and convenient.
