I asked this in the other forum, but want to know if anyone knows of a good place online to find the kind of essays at the beginnings of scholarly editions of famous books, notes on the translation, forwards, etc. They tend to be short and a good way to level up to more advanced material because still straight-forward nonfiction and about a subject you know well (if youre familiar with the book). I also just love reading translators describe the difficulties of rendering things originally in english, since im so used to hearing how our impoverished language can’t capture the nuance of whoever’s german, russian, french etc. Any tips would be appreciated !
