Can someone please tell me in simple language how to import Kindle books I have purchased to Lingq? I have searched and found some conversations on here laying out crazy long and complex steps to make it work. But I honestly don’t even get why this is so hard.
If there isn’t an easy way to import Kindle books can someone suggest another source to purchase ebooks where it will be simpler and easier to import? Should I try Google books or something else?
I simply want to be able to read books on Lingq. Why is it so hard to figure out how to do this? Or is it easy and I just need it explained to me?
Edit: I just realized you can no longer download Kindle books…
You can extract EPUB (ebook file) from Google Books, and it can easily be translated to other formats such as TXT, Word, or something. So, I recommend it.
Any other places where you can purchase? I just tried to buy the book I had available on Amazon but there is no ebook option available for that one with Google…
I am sorry as I have never really dealt with ebooks before.
It depends on the language of the content you want. For each language, there’s specific website for online bookstore.
It seems you are studying Spanish. Search on this forum about that.
It’s relatively easy to find a txt of a classic book. But for new books, quite challenging.
Kindle stopped people downloading their books about 3 months ago. Some people now use Kobu(?). I buy ebooks, use Calibre software and import them.
Unfortunately it’s the distributors that add all the DRM protections to prevent piracy, but it makes it hard on the folks that are trying to utilize what they bought!
I haven’t tried importing since Amazon stopped the download of kindle books via the “usb” option if you have a kindle so I’m not sure anymore…
You can try epubor.com and see if that’s still a viable option. I know a lot of people here have used it in the past. I think there’s a free trial so you could see if you get lucky.
Otherwise you might want to investigate online bookstores in the target language country and see if they have epub versions of the books you’re interested in. I’ve done this for the past couple of German books I purchased as I knew the Amazon path was going to be “closed”. Ymmv depending on the target language.
Epubor Ultimate still works well with books that you download to the Windows Nook app from B&N, but not for Amazon ebooks.
Currently, the only way with Amazon is to download the ebook to a Kindle device, then connect the Kindle to the Windows computer via USB and utilize Epubor Ultimate to decrypt the downloaded epub.

Hm, I downloaded four Kindle e-books a few days ago, used Calibre with the De-DRM plugin and imported them into, well, not LingQ.
Still works like a charm for books pre-2022.
