Please address this urgently, as it not only causes ongoing problems, but in fact inadvertently vandalizes previously intact lessons!
In the meantime, the only workaround I have found is to reimport the lesson with ZWNJs replaced by full spaces via an external text editor. That, however, also messes up the text – merely in a less destructive manner.
