Organizing
WEIRD I wasnt done writing and it posted this thread…
ANYWAYS.
I’m wondering if Lingq will be updating the way you can organize “My lessons” page? Or improve it ? Is that on the long “to do list” eventually sometime ( even if its in 10 years lol). Just wondering?
How does everyone organize this page and use the “archive” section of the my lesson page? The idea is to send finished/done lessons to the archive section?
I have like 6 pages of lessons both in active lessons and archived. The SORT BY function is GREAT. Does exactly what its suppose to do.
Theres a few things that bother me ( and its possibly been mentioned before but its on my mind now and I want to mention it anyways!) :
-
If i click on “view all archived lessons” , Theres a bunch of lessons that i “archived” because i wanted to study them later however I never got to them because they end up getting lost. So I wanted to go in and Delete all those lessons But whats happening is that after i click Delete and agree to delete It forwards your back to your “My lessons” Page. I have to click on View all archived lessons again and then proceed to find the next lesson i wanted to delete… I dont know about you guys but that’s a bit bothersome.
-
Also , After you delete a lesson from your My lessons page or archived page and you go to the Library Lesson page that deleted lesson is Still part of the “my collections” section of the library. Personally , If i delete the lesson from my lessons or archives i would expect the lesson to be put back in the library where it belongs. Anywhere but the “my collections” as its not part of your collection anymore.
THis is all hypothetical but if I could re organize/ redesign the My lesson page to something to my liking I would split it into 3 sections.
- section 1 Active lessons , Section 2 Finished Lessons and Section 3 would be a place where I could put lessons i dont want to start now, or lessons I put on hold, Lessons I found in the library that i thought was interesting and expect to do later on and I want to add it to my lessons but not start it =p ect…
- I would try to improve the way you can organize lessons ( not reinvent the wheel or anything) But just add options. Maybe The whole My lesson system could be more like how an internet email client works ( like hotmail, gmail) Where you can create folders, mass delete , organize by draging and dropping ( maybe too complicated) but could be more like an old version of Hotmail. Click a bunch of check boxes to mass delete… or mass organize…
I want to stress That this is just my personal feelings about the interface. I dont expect any changes to be made but maybe if you read this it might give you ideas to maybe possibly in a future update later on to maybe possibly change things if others have similar issues ( even if this is the last thing on the to do list as I’m sure Theres 100000000000000000000000 other important things to do.) Its definitely not broken soo no reason to fix it But some things could be a bit smoother in operation in the near future i hope. Im well aware that lingq is a constant work in progress… I’M NOT MAKING ANY DEMANDS =p. JUST SUGGESTIONS. Something to keep in mind…
Hi keroro,
Thanks for your long list of demands…I mean, uh, “suggestions”.
I agree with you about the organization of lessons on the page, and I’ve experienced the same things that you’re talking about.
However, reorganizing how the page functions (organization of lessons, etc.) is a bit more of a major project, so we’re unlikely to get to anything like that for a while.
You did mention that the “delete” feature on the Archived Lessons page brings you back to My Lessons, which obviously doesn’t make sense. We’ll see what we can do to get that one fixed sooner rather than later. The other ideas are good too, so we’ll keep them on the back burner as we continue to work on improvements.
As always, thanks for your input
HI alex…
Cool.
Well Its not just in the Archive section. Its also in the My lesson page. Say I organize my lessons by A-Z and then I go to page 3 and then i delete a lesson. The page will refresh and forward me to the First page of My Lessons and then Sort by Date automatically. Same thing for in the archived lessons. Just me? or happens to you too? Anyways doesnt make sense =p. It should just stay on the same page in the same place after it refreshes but it doesn’t ( for me anyways)
