I did not know who Jonathan Gold was. He is described as “restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Times.”

These cat-cafés have appeared here in other threads some time ago, I think. In France or Spain? In any case, in the link it is a name - so far not a recognised word. But who knows, one day we may read in the OUP dictionaries that you were the first to claim the word as a word in writing…

Yes, it’s a proper noun for a cat cafe in Chinatown, Los Angeles. Cat cafes reportedly originated in Japan.
