This is not necessarily content but something that would be great, at least for Russian, are lists of roots. I have a few hard copies of books with Russian Roots that have been enormously helpful as it links many, many words together. I occasionally add them into the notes on words, but if we could somehow link the words to their roots it would be an eye opener. Enormously important in Russian and would probably help in other languages as well.
As far as content to add, I have found 60 Disney Stories with the MP3s and PDFs (useless in here). The recordings are amazing and exist for many languages. It would be nice to get these imported for many languages as they would be like the short stories (Who is she? e.g.). Also, some of the stories are very repetitive. It appears they have been discontinued but having these for different languages would be immensely beneficial.
I’m getting a lot of value out of AI chats where the instruction is:
to correct my attempt at phrasing a question, improve natural / nativeness of the tone etc.,
using the target language at an appropriate vocabulary level.
Unfortunately the built-in Lynx AI is not so good for this as we cannot control the prompt and it also gives curt answers. Basically if we could tweak the prompt (or event BYO-AI)
It just takes at most three taps/clicks to reach the part were you are able to add listening time manualy. That’s not complicated. Depending on your device you even could make a link/shortcut to this option …
This will be cool. It could also be a simple separate radio app that sync with lingQ.
To add, even a cheap simple basic ereader (without fancy language learning lingQ features) like Moon+ reader that sync with LingQ could be useful.
The business advantage of these is to retain post-lingQ user base. Those who have learnt their language but still want to carry on with native radio and books.
Instead of them leaving the LingQ ecosystem they could move on to these simpler apps which could have free, sub/life versions. It should be managed by separate team.
A brief daily summary of the news would be nice, especially if read by a native speaker. Radio Canada has a six-minute news roundup every day in French, for example. If LingQ could get permission to upload something like that, it could be a good daily lesson. Even if the news summary were text only, and read by an A.I. voice, that would be good.
Personally, I don’t use the library anymore for different reasons. One being too many mistakes in different books, or books with a language too old. Or not proper audio. Or books with only half of the chapters. Or articles that I need to import before seeing a snippet to really understand what they are about!
For these reasons and others, I don’t waste time using the library anymore, even if, maybe, there is very good quality content now, or even improved content. Just my 2 cents.
The only way I would go back using the library, is for convenience, and not wasting time. If there were an option where your team would verify the content for maximum quality, tag it, and I could skip everything else, I would go back using it. Otherwise, it doesn’t really matter how much content you will add. Imho.
In any case, others have already said podcasts, but one interesting source could be comics! They offer a very interesting use of the language, and many people use it for learning as well.
