Modern Greek on LingQ, who's in?

Awesome! Here’s some more content: 伟德直营_伟德国际始于英国

Just received permission for “A Day in the Greek”, plenty of beginner material now!

Thanks for these. I didn’t see anything I could use for LingQ, but I did like the description of the Hellenic American Union podcasts (which will be making up the bulk of the offering on LingQ, at least at the beginning):

“Hellenic American Union podcast
These are fantastic!! There’s a huge selection of episodes, no longer than ten minutes or so maximum that play you a dialogue, go through with new vocabulary, and then give you some basic exercises. They start incredibly basic and carry on to a respectably advanced level. This is a fantastic way to learn phrases that are so useful, and that will get you speaking in no time. The episodes are all based in Athens and are fairly modern and up to date. You’ll be amazed how much you learn just by listening to these every other day.”

Fantastic news! I think Greek might be my next language. Once I master my current three, of course

Languages have no masters, they’re free.

More free Greek material: readings of the New Testament read in Modern Greek. Probably another 7+ hours (!) of advanced material.

The question is whether a Koine text read in Modern Greek would be useful for Modern Greek learners. If so, I can probably dig up a lot more Ancient Greek material read in Modern Greek to add to the library…

Probably not, unless it’s fully translated into Modern Greek? Koine may be closer but Ancient is definitely not the same language. Then again there are a few Swiss-German lessons in the German library, so I guess we just have to deal with the inherent fuzziness of language boundaries on Lingq. Some kind of “archaic” tag for filtering could be useful.

Helo. Any news about Greek language slot?

I gave up waiting for it. If it ever moves off the “long list of things to do” and becomes a reality, I’ll come back, but I’m not holding my breath (or looking for any more content for them).

Hi,
At this moment, we don’t have any plans to add new languages to the site, but you can use an existing slot to study an unsupported language to help track your vocabulary and learning progress. With this you will have to use a dictionary in another window/tab.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I think Greek and Hindi should be here. but…

“you can use an existing slot to study an unsupported language” zoran, what about the sound for the FlashCards?

Unfortunately text to speech won’t work, nor will the dictionaries, but for those who are interested in taking advantage of LingQ’s vocabulary tracking tools this is an option that exists without any additional changes required to the system.

We will be adding Greek as a Beta language in early January with the intention of getting everything set up and ready for launch as a supported language in February or March at the latest. We have been a little slow at getting these languages added and we apologize. Be patient just a little longer.

Hey guys, just a heads up that a new slot has been added for Greek. You can find it here:
Login - LingQ

Feel free to go in now and add your content, and once it’s ready let us know and we’ll make the necessary preparations to add it as a supported language, and will also send out an announcement to all our members about Greek being added as a new language

Wonderful news, thank you!

Fantastic, thanks! I am a bit busy with the 90-day challenge in Spanish at the moment, and in general with improving my three languages (Italian/French/Spanish), but if I start another one I think it might be Greek.

DO you still have that permission from hau.gr?
