Still not working for me.

Weirdly, I mistakenly imported English subs from a Korean Netflix show and it was paragraphed correctly, but then when I tried to the import the Korean sub it was back to being one huge block of text. Really frustrating.

It is recommended that the web page or application be separated from the stable and beta versions, and then let the user choose which one to use. It can ensure that users who do not need new features but need stable learning will not be affected by new features. Let users who enjoy the new features actively report problems and bugs in the program.

I’m afraid there is no such thing as a stable release. People are constantly complaining about issues. When one issue is fixed, another appears. Not everyone experiences a given bug either.

I have a feeling the management consider that those of us who complain do not understand commercial reality or business or some such reasoning. Hi ho. I’ve decided not to report bugs any more.

:smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: I really prefer the big block of text. Previously only one fourth of the screen was used. Can we keep it somehow ? :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Great idea, but unfortunately the only time a beta version is available is when there’s a major version update, like when the site went from v4 to v5 two years ago.

What you get on a daily basis is an imperfect stable release where one bug is fixed only for another one to appear. The team have got this nasty habit of releasing new features before they are ready and properly tested, abandon them before they are fully fixed, only to rinse and repeat with yet more new features.

I honestly think the issues on the platform have got out of hand and they have simply given up on some of them.

Thank you though it’s been almost a month. Is there any timeline for a fix? This is in my eyes 50% of the purpose of LingQ so this just feels like a waste of money only getting half of what I paid for.

Also this is a regular problem with the import function so it’s nothing new…

@zoran this is absolutely ridiculous how long this has been broken for. You send out newsletters and updates on all the new features though the literal main feature of LingQ has been broken for over a month now and it’s not the priority…

i feel this too. I have no idea why more people aren’t talking about this. Like is there only a handful of people out here who seriously uses LingQ to study languages or something? Maybe its only affecting some of the languages? i have no idea.

i don’t see why they couldn’t have a sort of format option in the settings that would allow this. The biggest issue with the block of text rn is the how its messing up the splitting and shoving grammar into the other words. On that note i wish there was a way to manually mess with the split of words and remove grammar when it does happen. Something like just highlighting LingQ’s and having an edit function.

I apologize for the delay. I notified our team about this again and I’ll do my best to have the fix pushed asap.

hi all, in the interim, you can fix the text exactly how you want quite easily:

  • Go into Edit Lesson
  • Click Regenerate Lesson. The script is now plain text you can copy (Ctrl + C)
  • Ask ChatGPT to reformat exactly how you like ("reformat the following into well formed paragraphs: " and paste the text
  • paste the text back into LingQ and use “Generate Timestamps” feature t- realign the timing

You’ll need to extract the audio to do the last step – there are a few guides around already on how to do that.
