The point is not for you as an English learner to read the rough translations in English, it’s to translate texts from the languages you’re learning and have difficulty understanding into Japanese and read along in Japanese while you listen.
You can do this because you’re a native speaker of Japanese and you know where the errors are, but you can disregard the errors anyway because the point is just to get the gist of what you’re listening to.
Nonetheless, thank you for posting your ‘experiments’ as that was something I had never tried before and you’ve given me some food for thought:)
