Learning Korean from almost zero

Ah sorry. No I mean the Korean language learning system has 6 levels. So I had studied enough independently to enter at level three and complete the final levels in class.

I see. Thanks a lot for your insight!

I can attest that Korean is hard. Even for me, and I knew Chinese and Japanese going in. The dictionary definitions are often not helpful, especially for the small words that seem to have about possible 8 meanings. Google translate for phrases is often not helpful , unlike for other languages. Beginner and intermediate content is hard to find. …
But… there is more and more content at LingQ, including the mini stories now, and a lot of content that I had transcribed from podcasts, for more advanced learners. I think LingQ has one of the better collections of Korean content to be found anywhere. Don’t forget you can import material, including anything you buy, and use it for yourself. Use Calibre to convert to a text file first.
And…as more people select a Hint, the User Hints are getting better and better.
The only advice I have is to stay with it. Get a grammar book to occasionally review the patterns and keep plugging along. I am looking forward to getting back to Korean again in the future.

It’s hard, but it’s also a really fun and fascinating experience. There is an literally an endless supply of K-dramas to study from, which I have enjoyed more than I want to admit. I have been able to study the korean subtitles privately on lingq while watching simultaneously with the properly translated English subs which has invaluable for creating hints… although I certainly do not envy the people who have to translate Korean dialogue to English.
