Currently I speak Portuguese, using Steve Kaufmann’s method should I read the text or video in English first and then watch it in Portuguese or the opposite? or should I go translating as I see the words I don’t know?
you can do whatever you want and whatever you find works for you. Some people watch content first and then they read the text, some people read and watch at the same time, some people only read the text, some people read and watch everything 3 times, etc.
the idea is read/watch content that you find interesting and make lingqs while doing it. The more you do it, the quicker you will learn.

I’ve seen many people doing same mistake here. They spending a lots times doing steve method at the end they are disapointed because they can’t speak language they been learning for a while.
Doesn’t matter language you are learning. First things to do is listenning radio/podcast/watching movie on netflix subtitles if you don’t have any knowledge. After 2 months maybe 3 be focus on reading and listenning.
If you’re able writting English but you can’t speak it. It mean you need more listenning English to be connect with language. One day when your head will be “ready” you will automaticaly thinking in English without to translate in your mind portuguese to English. You will be ready to talk
