Asking NotebookLM to generate study aids
(1) I started with this short news blurb from Kamchatka about a Labrador dog who visits and orphanage as therapy for the children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwhVmWU0E6Y. (2) Next I get the transcript as text using https:turboscribe.ai. (3) I switch my Google account primary language to Russian and start a new “notebook” in Notebook LM. (4) I copy the transcript as input to the new notebook. (5) Then I ask it in Russian to, “List of the most important expressions and phrases found in the text.”
That list alone is very helpful as I am preparing to discuss the video with my tutor tomorrow.
But, wait, there’s more: (6) I notice that the program is asking me, “Хотите, я подготовлю для вас набор карточек (flashcards) для запоминания этих ключевых терминов или составлю подробный отчет, обобщающий пользу канистерапии по материалам текста?” I.E. Do I want it to generate flash cards to study or a detailed report summarizing the benefits of canine therapy?
I am looking for something simple to study, so I respond: “набор карточек” (set of flashcards). Besides the obvious study aid this creates, interacting with the program in Russian is also a bonus.
