Kanji identification

Hi all! Newbie here. I’ve recently been learning Hiragana and Katakana, and a friend painted something for me, adding in Kanji characters since they know I’m into the language. Problem is, I’ve not learned any Kanji yet. The bottom character in this picture looks vaguely like a combination of different Kana to me, but I have no idea what these two characters together mean. Not even sure the top character is Japanese. Anyone have a translation for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like 勇気 to me which translates as " courage " in English. It’s spelled in hiragana as ゆうき

Pretty cool that you have a friend who would write that for you, and it looks really nice too!

Wow, yeah, I appreciate the gift even more now. Thanks for the translation! I really appreciate it!
