I am using a Lenovo Yoga with Windows 10, Chrome browser. I am using the Lingq 4.0 android app on a Samsung Galaxy s10 plus with Android 11. I do not have access to the Android app 5.0.
This week I have been converting the Cortina Russian Language course in the beginners section to Lingq 5.0 and adding a few new lessons.
Here are the issues I encountered:
The title appears as the first line in the lesson. The title then appears exactly the same as the second line in the lesson. This is redundant and maybe it should be removed.
When I’m looking at a course in the course viewer, the text notes / explanation of the course run from line to line in the middle of words. This is not readable.
After converting from the old version to the new version, I changed the title of every lesson in a course and somehow in the course viewer on the web beta, many lessons have the old names, but just a few have the new names. In the android app all have the new names. In the web version 4.0 all have the old names.
I converted 16 lessons in Cortina Russian to the new beta. The images remained the same as in the old version of the web page, except for lesson 16 for which I was required to upload a new image. I do not know why only lesson 16 required a new image. Then when I created a new lesson, lesson 17 exercises, I tried to add the old photo but I could not add it in the same orientation as before. This new photo for lesson 16 and 17 look different than all the other lesson photos (different orientation). They should all look the same.
While editing a lesson, in the upper right hand corner it says “Saved”, But when I choose another lesson to edit (in the small box in the upper right hand corner), I get the error message “are you sure you want to leave this page? Unsave changes will be lost”
In fact, anytime I am in the course editor page and I interact with this list of lessons in the upper right hand corner, I get the above error. Refreshing the page always resolves the problem.
Occasionally I get the error, “an error has occurred while processing your request. Depending upon the type of error it may automatically be logged and reviewed by our team so please retry your request in a few minutes. If you are still getting this error message after a few minutes, please email us at supportlink.com.” then when I refresh the page things are usually as I was hoping
Often when I am navigating through the course editor I get the following error,"This course doesn’t exist or you do not have permission… " After I click the “edit course” button. Refreshing page usually resolves issue
When I am editing a lesson, the save lesson button does not appear in the upper right hand corner. Only the view lesson button appears. If I click view lesson then the saved button appears just to the left of it finally. I do not get to view the lesson. It only saves the lesson. I have to click view lesson again in order to view the lesson
When I am viewing the lesson in the web beta. I can no longer see the time of the audio playback. I have included the timestamps in my transcriptions and I can no longer compare the timestamp to the audio playback time.
When I am viewing a course and looking at the list of lessons there is a three dot drop-down menu on the right hand side. The first option is view course. But I am already viewing the course . This is redundant and it should be removed. Maybe you can have edit course or view lesson for example instead of view course
I changed the title of every lesson that I converted. Out of over 20 lessons, only two of those new titles appear in when I am in “view course”. The others are still the old titles. However all of these new titles appear on the link 4.0 and Android app when I am viewing the course.
I converted lessons one through 16 to the new format. I had created these in the last few months in the old web version. Lingq 4.0
I created a new lesson in the beta. It is less than 17 exercises. I misspelled the title and I am unable to correct this title spelling. Then I changed the title from English to Russian. The new Russian title appears in the Android app, however it does not appear in the web beta. Only the misspelled English title appears in the web beta
In my newly created lesson 17 exercises, in edit course, I cannot see the indicator that tells me it is private or shared. I can only see that it is private after I select the individual course for editing
When I am editing my new lesson 17, I am unable to share it… The option in the drop-down has a red “no crossing sign” when I try to share. There is no indication as to why I was unable to share this lesson. After adding four tags I am able to share the lesson. Then when I look in the course editor, now I am able to see that the lesson has been shared. Whereas before I was unable to see anything, not shared, not private.
In full screen mode I cannot select a word to see the definition.
I show the translations and then I switch to full screen mode. The translations are gone.
My new lesson 17. In the Android app it appears out of order and is listed before lesson 16 exercises. However in the beta web version, it is listed after lesson 16. In the correct location. I am unable to change the order at all or correct the order in the list in the beta
In the course editor I selected the checkbox on the upper left hand side in order to select every lesson. I attempted to share all lessons. I was unsuccessful. Still many of the lessons appear as private
In the course editor, I can see how many users or devices have accessed my lessons. However these numbers are different than on the old web version.
When I am in edit course, I can select a lesson for editing. After I enter the lesson, I cannot go back to the edit course page. I can only select lessons or back and it takes me to the main page. I should be able to go directly back to the course edit page
When I search for Cortina Russian on Google, My lingq lessons do not appear on the first five google search pages and probably don’t appear at all in later search pages. If I search for “Cortina Russian lingq” My lessons appear on the first google search page. When I click on a link, and I view the course on the lingq site, only the lessons 1 through 8 appear. The new titles that I created in the beta web page appear. However in lesson 16, the old title that I created in the old link web page appears for lesson 16 instead.
In the view course page, there is a three dot drop-down, one of the items is “share”. When I click this I thought I would be sharing my course as a public course for all Lingq users. However that is not what I was doing, I was sharing a weblink to the course. This is confusing. The word share should not be used for both of these options. Maybe you can use the words “make public” in the editor and it will not be confusing.
The course Cortina Russian begins at the a0 level and takes the learner to at least the B1 level. But unfortunately I can only select one level for the entire course. So I have selected beginner 1. Can’t I select multiple levels for this course? Right now there is a drop-down below the image in the upper left-hand corner on the course edit page. I can only select one of these options
There is just no easy way to make all of my converted lessons in the course shared lessons. I must select them individually and share them all individually. This is quite labor and time intensive.
In the course editor page, I can select all of my lessons with a check mark. However, I cannot add a tag to all of these lessons after I have checked them. Also I cannot share all of them after I have checked them all
As I was trying to make lesson 16 exercises a shared lesson, I went to the drop-down menu at the bottom and I tried to change private lesson to share lesson. It changed to shared lesson but less than a few seconds later, it changed back to private lesson. In the upper right hand corner I noticed red letters that said failed to update lesson. I repeated this several times only to get the same result, it changed the back to private lesson. I do have four tags for this lesson I do have the audio. I do not understand why it will not go to shared. Finally I noticed in red letters in the upper left hand corner you must have an image to share a lesson. There is most certainly an image there. This is one of the lessons I converted from the old web page. The same image that was there before is still there. Finally I changed the image in less than 16 and it allowed me to share the lesson. Strangely enough, I then attempted to share lesson 15. I successfully shared less than 15 without changing the image. I did not receive this error message when sharing lesson 15.
In the course viewer page, I selected the drop-down and the right upper hand corner and select the option oldest to newest. They were multiple progress bars on multiple invisible lessons. However after a few minutes. They were no lessons only invisible lessons with progress bars. I gave up on this and I switched the drop-down back to all lessons. This reverted the lesson list back to its previous form
The Cortina course is a complete course with a PDF course book that has been made available to the public by the publisher. Why can I not include this PDF in the course viewer for the user? It has an excellent grammar section. Everything would be included in this course for the beginner if I could include this PDF in the course view page. A link for download of the PDF possibly. This grammar section is 200 pages in this course much more thorough than the link brief grammar section. As an additional suggestion, for some of the other languages, like modern Greek, the Cortina course would be all that is needed to add this language to lingq because it contains thousands sentences of text, many hours of corresponding audio, and a complete grammar that corresponds with the text. All the Cortina courses are in the public domain. Is someone would be willing to transcribe and proofread it as I have for Russian?
I added a price of 10 cents or $0.17 to a couple of my lessons. I cannot test this functionality. I only have one login. I do not remember which of my lessons that I added this to. This may cause problems in the future that I will not be aware of since I cannot test with another username
I created lesson 17 exercises with audio file number one which is slow and a transcription based on the slow audio file. Then after I had a good transcription in lingq, I replaced the slow audio file with a faster version. Unfortunately, it looks like the timestamps are all off and are probably corresponding to the old slower audio file. However I would like to update those timestamps into the new faster audio file. I can’t seem to be able to do this.
there are no spaces between the periods and the following capital letters that begin a new sentence in the beta web reader
I see no clips option , no resplit text option.and I cannot create sentence mode with the appropriate audio from the audio file. For lesson 17. I guess I’ll have to delete lesson 17 exercises and use The old web version to create the lesson correctly
