Iphone toggle showing definition

This seems like a small thing but it has the potential to really improve my reading experience. I’m currently a beginner reading books in Chinese on the app. When I tap a word the definition pops up but after I quickly look at it of course I want the definition to go away so I can keep reading. This is always slightly annoying to do. You can look for and tap the X in the upper right of the pop up window or you can tap a blank spot on the page with no text. It’s not terrible but when you do it repeatedly over and over and over you start thinking there has to be a better way.

Two options that could make this a little easier: tapping anywhere outside the pop up window makes the window go away (instead of looking up a new word). This would work really well for me as there is literally no time ever when I keep reading without closing the pop up window first. I get that some people might leave it up and continue reading especially on ipads where there’s more room and the pop is less intrusive.

Therefore another very good option would just be to tap the same word again to make the pop up go away. My finger is already on the word so I don’t have to go looking for where to press. It would be very quick and easy.

This might seem really small but when you are constantly repeatedly doing it, it really adds up.

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. I think other users would agree with this, too. I’ll forward to our development team and we will see what can be done in the upcoming updates.

Getting my hopes up :joy:. This really would make reading texts with a lot of yellow words smoother to read. As a beginner I have a lot of them in Chinese.

As amazing my idea is, not much activity on this thread :joy:. But I found an option that works really well (still would prefer if they made the requested changes). Towards the bottom of the iPhone screen there is always small blank area. You can just get in the habit of tapping there to make the pop up go away. This is already helping me stay focused and immersed in the story better.
