In iPhone app, impossible to create LingQs

Hi all,

I have used the iPhone app and the Web app for some time with no issues. But just a couple days ago I noticed that the LingQs I create using the iPhone app are marked as ignored as soon as I leave the lesson where I created them.

It looks like this — I open a lesson, I tap a white word, I tap the trash can icon in the upper right corner of the popup and change it into 1. The word becomes yellow. Now I leave the lesson, open it again, and the word is white again.

I can successfully turn that same word of that same lesson yellow using the web app, and it sticks. But not while using the iPhone app.

This happens with the lesson from the LingQ 101 course.

The only thing I noticed is that all such problematic words are currently marked as ignored. Meaning, the creation of LingQs works fine for the trivial words like “und” and “sie”.

Any idea what’s happening? Thanks

Thanks for reporting, I asked our team to look into this.

Thank you. After I posted the message, I have noticed another bit which might help you.

Just in case I decided to reinstall the LingQ’s iPhone app. I deleted the app (not simply removed it from the Home screen) and later when questioned confirmed that I want to delete all the app data.

After that I reinstalled the app from the App Store and logged in. And I noticed that the words I had difficulties with, were no longer marked as Ignored (displaying the single “trash can in a circle” icon in the top right corner).

Instead these words are now displaying the usual combination of two icons “trash can + checkmark on a white background”. And using the iPhone app, I can successfully assign these words with any rating from 1 to 4, and change it to another numerical rating, and that rating is preserved between sessions as expected.

But! If after I assign that word any regular rating, I go and set that word to ignore (assign it the “trash can” rating), that rating will stick to that word permanently again. Meaning I can assign that word a numerical rating, but as I leave the lesson and reopen it, the word will have the “ignore” rating again.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, our team is working on it and we will have it fixed. Appreciate your feedback.
