Importing and reading an article should take 1 action instead of 9*

I import-to-read 3 to 6 articles a day, and I ALWAYS repeat the same 9 actions*

This could become a 1-click operation with a simple change:

  • open the import dialog with the last used ‘course’ and ‘level’ values.
  • add a persistent check box next to the [Import] dialog button.

Additionaly, I remember having to wait 5/10+ seconds for each of the drop-downs to open. I guess they hit the server!? If so, it needs better caching or prefetching.

*9 actions after starting the import procedure:

  • click on the ‘Course’ drop-down
  • scroll to find the - same - course as last time
  • select/click on the - same - value..
  • click on the ‘Level’ drop-down
  • select/click on …
  • push the [Import button]
  • wait
  • click on Open
  • wait
    → start reading

With persistent defaults:

  • wait
    → start reading

Just use the LingQ browser extension.

Doesn’t work on Android, the only platform I use for LingQ.

I see. I had presumed you were using a browser. Are you using the share function in Android to share to LingQ? It only takes me a few seconds to import a simple article, but I suppose having it default to the settings used for the last import would be a good change for LingQ to implement.

I use the standard Chrome’s [Share] function.

It’s just about removing:

- unnecessary repetitions (selecting the same options each time), and

- friction (the superfluous second dialog and waiting step).

Thanks for the suggestions here. I think those are some good ideas we should definitely look at in the new year.

By the way, most of these recommendations should have been implemented. Hopefully they have streamlined your process.

I noticed  Thanks.

It’s so much faster now.
