This might be a small bug or just the way the system works but In one collection I currently have 92 lessons. The last lesson I added is set at position 92 ( i had to do it manually). Everytime I add a new lesson the position is automatically set to 2 positions lower than what it should be. RIght now I’m trying to add lesson 93 BUt the systems has 91 set as default position. NExt time i add lesson 94 instead of automatically going to the correct position itll be set to position 92 ( 2 positions less than what it should be). SO everytime i add a lesson i HAVE to manually change the number because its off by 2. This isnt a big problem but It would be nice if the system could recognize that there is infact 92 lessons and the system would automatically be set in the right default position for every added lesson…
Am i the only one that has problem with the edit button in the lingq widget? Its driving me nuts. when I want to click it it disappears. I mean ALOT! Generally speaking it works about 50% of the time. I’ve tried taking videos of the problem but everytime i try to take a video it seems to be working… Then when im in study mode everytime i want to edit a lingq It’s just very finicky… I know you guys have a long list of stuff to fix but i sure hope this edit button gets fixed sooner than later… I’ve mentioned it in an other thread before and mark seems to know what im talking about. I’m just bringing it up again to point out that this issue hasnt “disappeared”. the Edit button is almost like picking up a wet bar of soap and trying to hold it in your hand. It keeps trying to get away… Not fun to lingq really…
hey steve… how does that change anything??? When i was creating lesson 24 the default number was still 2 numbers lowers than it should be. so it would default at 22 making me manually change it to 24 to get the … correct number… In other collections it’s 1 number off… I’m assuming it has to do with the fact that I started the first lesson in the collection at number 1 instead of the default number 0… But still in the other collections that i started with the default 0 the number is off by 1 everytime i import a lesson. I still have to manually change the number if i dont want 2 lessons to be in the same position…
I should add that this is a problem For me because If i take the example of creating lessons 24 and the default lesson position is 22 … Thats a PROBLEM! because if i dont change it, lesson 22 and 23 already exist and there will be 2 lessons in position 22 and one of them being lesson 24… doesnt make sense to me.
Again not a BIG deal. i’ve managed to do everything manually. I’m just saying would be nice if the system organized/added lessons int he right order intuitively/automatically…it should work that way.
Sorry. You have to realize that I read these posts quickly. I thought you had a problem related to the number of items in your collection, since you were talking about 92 lessons.
The first item in a collection is in position 0. This means that if you are numbering your imported items, which I rarely do, Lesson 1 is in position 0 and Lesson 2 is in position 1, and so forth. The difference should be 1 and not 2, I would think.
I do not know why we do that, and it may be possible to change this.
Steve, I’m aware that position 0 is 1 and position 2 would be 1. But what i dont get is Even for the lessons that i used the Default import positions. It NEVER imports at the correct position. For example If i take an other collect that I started. It currently has 26 lessons ( this collection started at the Default 0 and the last lesson number for lesson 26 is 25) If i add an other lesson the next default position for lesson 27 should be position 26 HOWEVER its defaulting at lessons 25 which already exist… So again, I’m aware the numbers are off by 1 by default BUT somethigns just not working for me. The system is trying to create 2 lessons in the last position known…
I really dont mind that the system uses a 0-9 to organize lessons. The problem im having is that the system doesnt seem to recognize what the last lesson position IS. Regardless of what the first lesson is it should know what the last lesson number is and just +1 that as the default next lesson number… At the moment ( for me anyways) it defaults the position at -2 positions for the one I want to import ( if i changed the first lesson to 1) or it defaults at exactly the same number as the last lesson …
IT works correctly if the first lesson is set to 0… For some reason it wasnt before but seems to be fine now… ODDD
However
If my first lesson is set to 1 it’s still off … I guess i should jsut use the default 0 for the first lesson BUT still would be nice if the system could recognize what the last lesson number is instead…
Either way, like i said not a big issue. just want to point it out.
The edit button on the other hand is driving me nuts… because i use it for almost every lingq i create and I’m constantly running into problems with it.
Its really 50/50 for me with the edit button. Works perfect 50% of the time… other times its hard to click it because it disappears. I keep having to mouse over the hint and by the time i get to the edit button its gone. I have to try a a bunch of times before it works in some cases. Like a slippery bar of soap you’re trying to catch =)…
Hope it gets fixed … I guess its hard to fix something you dont know what causes it. It seems random really…
The import issue has been there for as long as I can remember. It basically counts the total number of lessons in the collection starting at 0 (aka “1” for programmers). All new lessons added will fit into this same sequence, not the one you’ve manually set. You’ll have to adjust them to start at 0, or add them all first then fix the numbers later.
Regarding the edit button disappearing, I wonder how high your mouse sensitivity is. I have this issue once in a while, but if I’m careful with my mouse movements I don’t have the issue much at all. As Steve says, we’ll see what we can do about making it a little less touchy.
Well not much I can add really. I dont think its a mouse sensitivity issue on my end or the way i use the mouse/lingq. Its works fine when it does work but when it doesnt it just not fun to lingq =). Its very random really.
When it starts happening I try VERY hard to go slow with the mouse and be as accurate as i CAn and it doesnt change anything. The second i move the mouse even a pixel ( even though im still on the hint mouse over area) the edit button will disapear… it shouldnt disapear if im still in the mouse over hint area…
Frustrating. I’m just happen it doesnt happen ALLL the time but it is significant. I run into the problem every single time start creating lingqs. I really dont do anythign differently when it starts doing this.
In anycase, I hope this gets looked at. OR i hope my problem fixes itself with future software updates… I just hate having to mouse over multiple times to get the thing working. over and over again…
