I’d like to ask about importing YouTube videos onto mobile devices for effective learning. When playing YouTube videos on a mobile device, it switches to scrolling subtitles, and I can’t click on words to look up new vocabulary. I can watch in sentence mode, but it doesn’t play continuously and I have to scroll through the text page by page.
Do you have any suggestions for better usage methods? I’m currently quite frustrated with learning on mobile devices.
video on mobile right now is not really great unless you have a big enough phone or tablet to split screen. I have been requesting them to make it better for a while but i think they may be working on solutions to it based off of answers in other posts. Fingers crossed!
I’ve watched the entire video now, and only looked up the meanings of new words at the end. Or for shorter videos, I first read through the text’s new words before watching the video. In any case, I can’t look up words while watching.
I second that the video interface should be improved, and not only for on mobile devices. When I watch a movie with LingQ on my computer, the video screen covers up the vocabulary look-up box. So then when I need to look up a word, which is currently almost every sentence, I have to move the video window around on the screen to see the definition after clicking on the word. Then I have to move the video window back again so I can see all the subtitle text.
I would also love to be able to look up words when text is scrolling on the screen, as the OP here suggests.
