How to see sentence translation in app?

Scenario:

I am using the app.

I don’t understand a sentence, but I understand the words (so clicking on words doesn’t help).

I can’t figure out any way to tell it to show me the translation of the entire sentence.

On the web version I just use the “Show Translation” menu option, but, I have not found that on the app.

Note: I don’t want to go to sentence mode because its navigation is bad (nothing ever tells you what sentence number you’re on, and there is no way to go back to a particular sentence number by number even if they didn’t conceal the numbers), and the audio is often very wrong for sentence mode.

On Android, the sentence number is shown briefly on the top slider

  • when you enter the sentence mode
  • when you slide to another sentence

Thanks! I don’t see the “upon entrance”, but that doesn’t matter because I do see the “upon sliding (either direction)”, which would be helpful.

(But I miss having audio with the text, and sadly there seems to often be some problem with audio alignment.)

@zorbital “Show Translation” option in the menu is available on the website version only.
On the mobile, to view translation for phrase, you need to select a phrase. Tap and drag to select it. Or, you can use the Sentence mode.

Thanks; I didn’t know you can drag to select.

But the popups get in the way.

How do you disable the popups in order to drag & select an entire sentence?

It only lasts a second, but it shows.

@zorbital What popup are you referring to? Also, keep in mind that you can select up to 9 words at once, that is the limit.

I can’t really select anything most of the time because it pops up word definitions when I touch near a word.

@zorbital I can’t reproduce the problem on my end. You need to tap and hold on a word and then the option to highlight a phrase will appear. Please give it another try.

Ok, I tried again.

Same result.

I click and hold on a word, and it selects that word and possibly one next to it, and a big popup comes up and obscures half the screen.

(A) I see no way to highlight a phrase from there

(B) I also cannot see half the text on the screen because the popup is in the way
