How Far Can You Go When You Are Walking With Your Hands?

Here’s an interesting article from by a native speaker of Cantonese and her experience learning English, as well as some interesting comments after the article:

“If learning a second language is hand walking, then living in a foreign country is running a marathon with your hands.”
I felt the above expression is very interesting. But how can we walk and run with our hands? Is learning a second language so much difficult?

“Is learning a second language so much difficult?” should read “Learning a second language is not so difficult.”

Learning a language is not like walking on your hands. Few people can walk on their hands.

Learning a language is like swimming or riding a bike, which most people can learn to do. You just have to believe in yourself and go with the flow, and that goes for living in a foreign country.
