How do I disable annoying pop ups and emails?

I constantly get countless emails from LingQ telling me to do my lessons. I hate them, and they usually arrive while I am doing lessons. They serve no purpose other than to annoy me. And I get countless pop ups telling me that I have imported videos. All of these messages really annoy me. How do I turn them off please?

And a suggestion. I don’t care about streaks, and mine have broken several times. But I would like a measure of how many days I’ve done since I started LingQ, and when I started. It would be interesting to have quick access to the following:

The date of the first day that I completed my daily goal.
The percentage of days studied since then where I have completed my daily goal. Thus if I start on July 1, and I have missed 2 days out of 50 since then, my percentage would be 100 x 48/50 or 96%.

I really don’t like streaks and rightly or not I see them as a way for LingQ to addict people and increase their revenues rather than a genuinely useful tool. After all, many respected polyglots recommend taking a day off from time to time. That can be beneficial. I do it with ice skating, and sometimes a rest really helps. Also, if you present a percentage, people might be less inclined to continually ask you to repair their streak.

Regarding emails, go to Settings > Notifications and you can disable them there.

Under Settings > Reader, you can disable “Streak and milestones popups”.

I spent ages earlier looking for a way to turn them all off.

Regarding the first one, is that the iOS settings? Under notifications, LingQ is not present. I cannot find Settings in the iOS app.

I had already disabled the second one but they still appear.

@LeifGoodwin Strange, you disabled the popups but you still see them? Are you seeing them on the app version? Regarding emails notifications, that’s available on te website version only.

This is the setting:

I get these emails which pop up during lessons.

I normally just ignore them and move them off screen, but I’ve just seen that I can unsubscribe. I will do that, hopefully I won’t miss anything of value.

Emails and pop-ups are two different things.
To disable emails too, log in to your account on the website, go to Settings > Notifications and disable emails there.

Thank you for replying.

It took me ages to figure out how to do what you suggested above. I didn’t know that LingQ.com (which I never use) and the website I am now using to write this are different, with different settings at top right. Okay, I have now disabled the notifications. Why do you have two sets of interfaces? I use the iOS app and the forum.

I had previously opened an email from your company, and clicked on Unsubscribe. Why didn’t that unsubscribe me? What does that do?

How do I cancel the video imported messages?

@LeifGoodwin Thanks, we will check the unsubscribe option and see if there’s any issue. What do you mean by video imported messages?

If you just click on the Lesson at the top of the forum interface, that will bring you back to LingQ home page.

When I open the iOS app, I have to wait while little dialogs pop up telling me that such and such a video has been imported.

Do you means Lessons ? If I click on that, it takes me to the iOS app.

Correct, if you are on the phone, it will automatically open the home page on the app.

I’m on an iPad, not an iPhone.

Example poppy up dialogue:

@LeifGoodwin iPhone or iPad, in any case it will open the LingQ iOS app, that’s what I tried to say.

Popup messages about importing content can’t be disabled.
