Formatting issues

Hiya,

loving the new beta but this is one thing I would love to have improved. The text editor formatting does not match what the lesson will actually look like.

For instance when importing a netflix show, I would like to have each subtitle on it’s own line, and in the beta editor this is what is shown. But in the lesson/reader view, all the lines have been formatted into a book like format making it a lot harder to read.

We’ll see if we can enable a mode like this. Currently the editor is trying to maximize the words on the page.

Hey Mark, thanks for the quick reply, I really hope you guys can take a look into this because now, the steps I need to take to get a netflix show imported with good formatting are:

  1. Import the show with the LingQ extension
  2. Open the editor and copy the text (from the beta, because it’s shown correctly in the editor)
  3. Paste that text into Word
  4. Create a new lesson because the new editor doesn’t allow me to select all the text in a lesson and delete it
  5. Paste the text from word in the new lesson, and save it. (Here I need to go back to legacy, because in the beta, pasting into a lesson messes up the formatting)
  6. Delete the old lesson saved by the extension.

I guess I don’t understand why maximizing the amount of text on a page by compromising readability is a good trade-off.

The interesting thing is that this seems to happen in Japanese and not in most other languages when using the extension to import from Netflix. We will try and figure out what is happening here.

LingQ is a wonderful tool that I want to continue using, so hearing that you guys are listening to feedback and trying to fix issues is a great reassurance.
