Feature request: automatic translation in sentence mode

As a beginner in some languages, it would be quicker to turn on an option to have the translation displayed automatically for every sentence on sentence mode, since I’m always reading the translation!

It used to be the case, but some people complained about it, so it was altered to hide the translation by default.

An option to toggle it on or off would be better.

Aww that’s a shame, I agree a toggle option would be the best!

Agree it is easy to avoid seeing the translation even if they are visible, it is so much more convenient to having them auto visible but maybe a little darker or lighter. I am starting to get Repetitive strain injury in my fingers clicking the shortcut to reveal translation.

My solution is to do my first read of lesson in edit sentence mode, which has a far more superior layout than the sentence mode.

Inline edit and you can even make quick edit to timestamp there if need to, it is a lot more convenient.

Almost everything has bad timestamp, So it is better to consume lesson in edit sentence mode.

我也同意,这样就能这样省去我点击的时间了,最好做成一个开关

I just figured out how to make it show the translation automatically using an extension.

I am using Chrome and had the Custom Key Binding extension.
I realized I can reuse same keyboard key for different actions so I set key D for next page. Then I set key D to also click on the show translate button. I also set key D to play the audio.

So now I just need to press D and it goes to next page, play the audio and reveal the translation ! This will save my fingers.

Below is how the setup looks like in Custom Key Binding. I use Key A for previous page.

Wow this is a good idea! Much quicker to read this way than having to click translate all the time

Yup, If you are interested you can also do something similar in the LingQ Android app using the Keymapper app.

I use it to create 3 floating buttons to be at the bottom.

The advantages are

  1. I can click easily with just one hand no need to use 2 hands.

  2. I don’t have to keep moving my finger away to read text compared to LingQ play button which is right at the top, With the LingQ layout my finger would cover the text when I press the play button.

  3. I also set it up to - page, play audio and reveal translate upon clicking on my “>” or “<” button, The “R” button is to replay the audio.

  4. You can also set it up to use a bluetooth remote.

  5. No need to swipe ! I just press the “>” or “<” button to page.

Actually even on the app the UI/UX of the edit sentence mode is far superior to the sentence mode. At least the play button is at the bottom, although it is misaligned off to the corner instead of centered. No one knows why. It feel like they just want us to use 2 hands.

That might fix my issues, do you have a write-up of how to set it up? There’s a few keymapper apps I can see, which one did you use?

I am using this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.sds100.keymapper

I will see if i can do a guide later in the day.
