I saw a line from the movie, Hidden Figures.
Everything we do “between” now and then is going to matter.
Do you know what “between” means here?
Thank you!!
I’d have to look at the movie again to be sure, but between is the interval of time and sequence of events from now (this moment) until then (the future). The character is saying that all the things we do from right now, this moment in time, are going to be critical for our success in the future.
Thanks a lot!
The same as B is between A and C, so we have now…and then, everything that comes into that space is between now and then.
So “now and then” here doesn’t mean “sometimes”, right?
I’ve learned a sentence like this: I go to the movies now and then. So “now and then” here is sometimes?
Thank you!
That’s a good point. Now and then does mean sometimes in the sentence, “I go to the movies now and then.” But in the sentence “everything we do between now and then” now refers to the present and then refers to the future.
Thanks again for the help!
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6. That’s less than one month away. If Republicans want to win, they have to work hard between now and THEN.
