Ebook split into a lot of small chapter

Did something change. It used to be 6k words per chapter. Now the ebooks get split into a lot of really small chapters?

We didn’t make any changes regarding the word limit. Did you notice the problem with any other book?

I don’t know. It seems random
the most recent ebook I uploaded is 132602 words according to Lingq. it got divided into 31 chapters which is much better than over 100

Thanks, we’ll look into this and try to figure it out.

I notice a problem where I upload a ebook and it errors out sometime even saying there is DRM issue, then the 2nd or 3rd time I upload the same book it goes through fine. The uploader sometimes don’t behave consistently… which is strange for a software.

We’ve added splitting by chapter, so epub lessons can be shorter than 6,000 words.

@yoshiw Is the course you imported made using an epub file with 109 small chapters? That seems a bit excessive, but it is probably an issue with the epub itself rather than our importing process.

Does the 6000 word limit still apply even with the introduction of splitting by chapter ? Thank you.

i do a lot of importing of epubs what i notice is that if your chapter is more than 6k words it will be split, but the name of the split chapter won’t indicate it was split, its name will be the course name. it can be confusing yes, wasted a lot of time fixing, reimporting book thinking i was doing something wrong.

This spliting can also be a problem if you want to import the audiobook as well since now you need to split the audio too if you want them to sync.

@SeoulMate Yes, so a 15,000 word chapter should be split into 3 lessons.

I have encountered this problem with smaller books where every page is a chapter. Please activate the import function so that we can manually specify that we do NOT want to split by chapters. I still think that splitting by chapters is great and should remain the default, but there are cases where it is better to import the entire EPUB file as a whole.
