Do you like my quote?

“How do I look? Do you like my quote?”

I don’t understand what “quote” means here?

Thank you!!

I’m not sure without watching the movie. I haven’t seen Inside Out — yet. But I know there was a show called “What Not to Wear” where people who had bad fashion sense would be referred to the show by friends or family. They offer the person $5,000 to buy a new wardrobe, but they have to agree to throw out all of their old, trashy clothes and be critiqued by the fashion consultant hosts. At the end of the show, after they had bought new clothes and had a makeover, they would say, “How do I look?” There was also a makeover show called “How do I look?” so maybe I’m getting the shows confused, but I don’t remember ever watching that show. But I’m guessing maybe that’s the quote they are referring to in the movie. An actual quote from a tv show, “How do I look?” I don’t know.

In the original script there is a line: “How do I look? Do you like my shirt?” Maybe it’s just a translation error. You can read the script at http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/inside-out-screenplay.pdf.
