Recently downloaded LingQ for Android (thanks lisanbao40) but it doesn’t seem to work as well (as the website) for my needs.
I use the keyboard (the right and left arrow) to jump between words. My keyboard connects and allows me to type definitions and such but I can’t change words with the arrows.
Additionally, when I select a word and choose a definition, it automatically deselects it and I have to select the word again if I want to edit the definition or change the number. It’s really annoying.
Is this operator error? Or is LingQ Android the problem?
Obviously Zoran will need to check for sure but I’d be pretty surprised if the app itself allowed for the keyboard shortcuts since that is not the usual mode of operation to use a keyboard. I imagine though it might work if you access lingq through your browser on the phone and use the keyboard there.
“I’d be pretty surprised if the app itself allowed for the keyboard shortcuts”. I’m appalled that keyboards and programmable shortcuts aren’t standard. People want to readm millions of words, not fiddle with app deficiencies. Keyboards and shortcuts aren’t advanced tech.
Hello it’s been about two weeks now. It still isn’t fixed. Please fix it.
To clarify, I want to use the LingQ Android app to read on my Samsung Galaxy A9+ tablet but the app doesn’t allow me to use my keyboard.
To be specific, I can’t move left or right with my keyboard to select diffferent words. I also can’t move up or down to select diffferent definitions. Additionally, when I select a definition for a word, I have to reselect the word to change the number (of familiarity). Finallly, I also can’t change my level of familiarity with my keyboard.
@JeremyBrunette I checked this with our Android developers and they confirmed that we never added support for an external keyboard. At the moment, it’s not possible to properly use the keyboard on the app version.
With respect, why not? I’m new in Spanish but as an English speaker I can guess a lot of the words. It’s very irritating to have to poke every word with my finger. That’s not even including the fact that sometimes I want to add my own definition (much easier with a keyboard) or want to ask AI to explain a grammar point (much easier with a keyboard).
Additionally, what about the other issue? When I find an unknown word, I select a definition. In the selection, LingQ Android DEselects the word so I have to select the word again if I want to change the word to “known”. When will this be fixed?
