The questio is the same as the subject: What is the difference between Arigatougozaimassu and Arigatougoazaimashita?
This is a good question because there are several ways of saying “Thank-you” in Japanese. “Arigatou gozaimashita” is said when someone did something for you in the past. “Mashita” is an ending associated with the past tense in Japanese. If someone will do something for you, you can just say “Arigatou gozaimasu”.
I welcome any additions by native speakers or more advanced speakers.
We usually express gratitude for something in the past. I find the two expressions more or less interchangeable, like so many expressions in all languages.
I would agree (and yes, I am posting again) that both are heard a lot and that people say “Arigatou gozaimasu” for things done in the past as well. Informally, people just say “Domo”…then there is “Domo arigatou gozaimashita”-a longer way to express gratitude unless it’s after dinner when you should say “Gochisosama deshita” instead if you want to show appreciation for “a feast”…
That was one of the first things I learned in Japan.
There is nothing left to be added to great explanations by two members.

Good point. In Hiragana there are no spaces. There are different ways to write Romaji (Hepburn, modified Hepburn, etc.). I thought there were just two, but today I learned there are more.
I have not learned hiragrama yet is my current task.

Ytk031 was just showing you how to write these words in Hiragana. I hope he doesn’t mind if I explain that.
Hiragana doesn’t take long to learn-maybe two-three hours. It depends on the person.
