Create LingQs from Non-Adjacent Words (Separable Phrases and Verbs)

Original Canny votes: 3 | Status: Under Review

Currently, it’s not possible to create a LingQ from words that are not adjacent to each other in the text. This is particularly problematic for:

  • Phrasal verbs in English (e.g., “pick up” when the sentence reads “pick something up”)
  • Separable verbs in German, which are very commonly separated and make it impossible for German learners to create LingQs for them

Request: Allow users to select non-adjacent words to create a LingQ or phrase from words that are separated in the text. This would significantly improve the learning experience for languages with separable verbs and phrasal verbs.
