I’d like to use audio from YouTube, but replace the text.
Can I get Lingq to generate its own text and timestamps, after importing from YouTube?
If I replace the YouTube text with my own text, can I get Lingq to generate new timestamps, or would I need to enter them all manually?
Can I export an audio file from an imported lesson, and use that audio file to create a new lesson?
Unless things have changed here recently – and a lot of them have, you cannot import just the audio from YouTube using LingQ’s native import feature. In the past I have used 3rd party sites to download YouTube audio, which I then uploaded to LingQ. (Some YouTube Videos don’t have usable caption and can’t be imported to LingQ directly.) Apparently YouTube doesn’t like people doing that, and they keep blocking those sites, or make other changes that keep those 3rd party sites from working.
There are paid utilities available that keep updating their code to circumvent these efforts made by YouTube, and sometimes you can find free websites that are able to do it temporarily, until YouTube makes its next round of changes.
Maybe someone else here can tell you more about those sites and utilities.
Good luck!
@Timmins As @sockdoll wrote, to import YT audio only you need to use available online tools to extract audio, then you can import it to LingQ and generate the transcript.
Thanks. I’ve been using OBS Studio and Audacity for that. I was hoping I could skip that step.
I’m liking the new editing screen, BTW. It works a lot better for me, now that I’ve taken some time to figure it out.
