Bird names

Hi. I’m quite interested in languages and speak a few to various levels. As I live in Wales, I regularly receive a magazine called ‘Y Barcud’, the red kite. I noticed a while ago that the Russian word for golden eagle is ‘Berkut’.
Surely this is not a coincidence.
Are there any scholars out there who can explain the similarity in the two words - perhaps a common root?

Many thanks

That’s very interesting. I can’t give any informed opinion but Wiktionary considers that the Russian word originally comes from a Turkic language, which would make a connection with the Welsh one somewhat unlikely ??

I couldn’t found the Welsh term
